Vadiim has spent his institutionalized life at the
Adamii orphanage in Krasnodar, Russia. Doctors labeled
him as ‘un-teachable.’ He can walk but
with difficulty.
Vadiim enjoys the regular Kids for the
Kingdom team visits. He always thanks
the volunteers when they bring him fresh fruit, pastries,
and other treats. He always listens intently during
Bible story time and participates during the praise
singing.
Recently Vadiim told our volunteers a remarkable story.
One evening while alone in his room he thought he
heard someone call his name, “Vadiim.”
He turned to look but no one was there. A little while
later he heard his name called out again, “Vadiim.”
There was no one in his room so he looked out the
window. Then Vadiim claims the unseen voice said,
“Ask for a Bible.” So the next time the
Kids for the Kingdom volunteer
team came to the orphanage Vadiim asked for a Bible.
Due to his disabilities Vadiim had never attended
school nor was taught to read. Even so he began intently
turning the pages of his new Bible. Day after day
he poured over the pages of his Bible. At first he
recognized only a few letters. Little by little he
began to understand words. Eventually he could read
whole passages.
Doctors were amazed as they confirmed that Vadiim
was actually reading the Bible. Vadiim says, “God
gave me the ability to understand the words.”
Soon Vadiim was sharing Bible verses with the other
orphans. Two of the girls in the orphanage attribute
their new-found faith in Christ to Vadiim. They testify,
‘Vadiim answers all our questions about the
Bible and gives us comfort.’
God opened the doors of the Adamii orphanage to our
volunteer team as they brought God’s love along
with practical assistance (shoes, winter clothing,
and blankets). God opened the door of Vadiim’s
heart (and mind) and is using him to encourage other
children in the orphanage.
Kids for the Kingdom national
directors Natasha and Valodia Bogomolov direct our
ministry to orphans, widows, and house-bound children.
In Maikop, Russia our teams make regular in-home visits
to 42 families with handicapped, invalid, and shut-in
children and coordinate team visits to over 1,000
orphans each month. Our Russian teams provide practical
services for orphans including clothing and food distribution,
medical support, counseling, Christmas and Easter
programs, Bible Studies, and Christian programming
at Internauts (Orphanages) and institutions in Krasnodar,
Sevastopol, Tulsky, and Maikop.

Albert, an eleven-year-old boy, has a medical
condition that causes his bones to easily break.
As a result Albert is typically confined to
the bed for days on end. Albert is one of the
forty home-bound handicapped children visited
each week by Kids for the Kingdom ministry
teams in Russia (seen in the photo with Kids
for the Kingdom international director Greg
Dabel). |
