In the soul of every child there is an empty spot. It is a hunger deep inside that can only be filled and satisfied by the true and loving God. Jesus said,“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.”Yet it is hard for little children to ‘hunger and thirst for righteousness’ when their stomachs are knotted with hunger or their tongues are parched with thirst. Living conditions in many third world countries make it difficult for children to grasp the truth of God’s love. That’s why Kids for the Kingdom combines the delivery of aid and assistance with the message of God’s Word. Each week our feeding programs and Bible Clubs in Kenya, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Ghana, and India provide 7,178 children with a nutritious meal to fill their tummies and the Word of God to fill their hearts.
For example, lunch at the La Concha Village school in Nicaragua is simple, hot, and delicious. It consists of beans, rice, vegetables, and a tortilla. It is a simple meal yet for many of these Nicaraguan children it will be their only meal all day. In the inner-city ‘pocket slums’ of Chennai, India dinner for the children is ‘chicken bryani.’ The meals consists of rice, potatoes, onion, vegetables, cashew nuts, egg, and spices. For many of the children it is their only meal that day – and the best meal they will eat all week. In Kenya the children in Nairobi’s Highridge District come for a simple meal of bread, vegetables, and milk. They are so thankful for even the smallest bits of food. These meals in Nicaragua, India, and Kenya cost 30¢-57¢ per plate (depending on local prices and currency exchange rates). After tummies are filled with hot, nutritious food our ministry teams offer young hearts the warm, satisfying Word of God through Bible instruction, teaching, praise songs, skits, and Bible stories.
