Psalm 68:5 says: ‘A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling.’ — When Vadiim was a child, he was dropped on his head. Doctors said he would never be normal. As he got older, he was told he would never be able to read. His family left him in a orphan home for unwanted children. One night, he heard a voice calling to him from the darkness saying ‘Ask for a Bible’. Vadiim asked for a Bible and began to try to read. At first it seemed impossible, but soon he could understand simple words and phrases. Today he is able to read without help. For years, he has wanted to be free of the terrible environment of the state run orphan home where he lived most of his life. This week, a long time friend of Vadiim’s, Pasha, was able to ‘adopt’ Vadiim and take him to live with his family. Vadiim wants to say ‘thanks’ to all the people who have prayed for him and his difficult situation for so many years. He knows he has a Father who loves him, and is a ‘father to the fatherless.’
