Zambia Chicken Project

Esther Mkandawire is Kids for the Kingdom’s national director in Zambia. She runs a school and feeding program with 1300 children attending every day.

Providing food for each of those kids is a daily struggle. Recently, Kids for the Kingdom received special funding to help with emergency feeding in Zambia. Instead of just feeding children a one time meal, Esther and Kids for the Kingdom decided on a unique plan. The school would purchase and run its own farm and chicken project. The teachers even pitch in to help feed the chickens.

The chicken project started with 200 broiler chickens.
Every 6 weeks, the full grown chickens will be sold and a new batch of chicks purchased. As their business grows, Esther and her team hope to be able to earn enough to provide a meal for each student at the school every day.
